The district comprises the counties of Kings, Nassau, Queens, Richmond, and Suffolk and concurrently with the Southern District, the waters within the counties of Bronx and New York. Criminal Justice Act
The Criminal Justice Act Committee of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York is accepting new applications for appointment, and applications for reappointment, to the panel of attorneys under the Criminal Justice Act of 1964, through September 6, 2024.
The Court encourages is committed to diversity highly qualified and experienced criminal defense attorneys who reflect the diversity of the community, including but not limited to ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender and gender identity, disability, and age, to apply for membership on the CJA Panel for the District. Assignments to the Panel will be for a three-year period, beginning January 1, 2025.
Applications may be submitted for assignment to the Brooklyn or Central Islip panels, or both. The Committee is also seeking applications from practitioners whose experience is uniquely suited to handling petitions for post-conviction relief.

Juror Information
JUROR FEES As of May 7, 2018, paid at the rate of $50.00 each day that you report, plus mileage, parking and tolls. Juror attendance and mileage are computed automatically. Please save all parking, travel and toll receipts and submit them at the end of your two (2) week term. Staple all receipts together in date order. Print your full name, and summons date on the back of each receipt. Submit the receipts within five (5) business days after completion of your service. If you are selected for a trial, and it runs for more than the 2 week term, submit receipts at the completion of service. PLEASE NOTE: Phones are checked at the lobby upon entering the courthouse. Wireless devices, laptops, and like devices may not be permitted in court and must be turned off in the courtroom, Since these devices cannot be left in the Jury Assembly Room, please do not bring them with you. PARKING: Long Island courthouse offers free on site outdoor parking. Brooklyn courthouse has parking available at discounted rates with all the cost being reimbursed. DO NOT METER PARK. YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO LEAVE THE COURTHOUSE TO REPLENISH THE METER AND PARKING CITATIONS ARE NOT REIMBURSABLE. Envelopes and parking coupons will be provided at the counter for your convenience. If you are selected for a case, make sure you know the following, Judges' name, name of the case, and where you sit in the jury box. Come to the jury room before going to the courtroom each day the case meets, to Print Your Name on the daily sign-in sheet, (next to your assigned jury box number. This ensures that you will be paid for that day. If you are not picked for a case when you are sent to the courtroom, the judge may tell you that you have been excused. this only means you have been excused for that particular case. Come back to the jury room. PROPER COURT ATTIRE IS MANDATORY. NO JEANS, SHORTS OR TANK TOPS WILL BE PERMITTED Jurors will likely have questions relating to their service. Many of your questions may be answered by phoning our Automated Jury Information System at Jurors who appear, but are not selected to a case, must phone the court after 5:00p.m. daily until your two week service has been completed. These numbers will provide you with information pertaining to your following days schedule. PENALTY Unless you receive a notice from this Court granting you an excuse or postponement, or unless the Court notifies you in writing or by phone to report at a different time, you must attend as directed in the summons. |

ONLINE CRIMINAL DEBT PAYMENTS You may make online payments for criminal debt such as special assessments, fines, and criminal restitution. Payments are made through the U.S. Treasury website, Pay.gov, using a checking account, savings account or a card (debit or pre-paid only). If you have questions about online payments, please call the Clerk's Office of the U.S. District Court at 718-613-2580. Make a payment on pay.gov https://www.pay.gov/public/form/entry/101/1147579729/ VICTIM RESTITUTION INFORMATION - MAKING PAYMENTS Who do I contact to receive a judgment of satisfaction, information on payment statements received? My case is closed and I am trying to get a statement that I have satisfied my financial obligations. What form of payment does the Court accept? To whom should the check/money order be made payable? Where should I send payments? Online payments can be made via Pay.gov [https://www.pay.gov/public/form/entry/101/1147579729/ ] How can I get a receipt for my payment? Funds sent via US Treasury's Credit Gateway System The Clerk's Office may accept, report, and process court ordered payments and civil case payments in excess of $50,000.00 through the Department of Treasury's Credit Gateway System. Collections equal or greater than $50 million require advanced notification to the Administrative Office's Finance and Accounting Division and Treasury's Bureau of Fiscal Service. The EFTs are receipted directly into the Department of Treasury, handled by the Federal Reserve Banking System and referred to as "Fedwire" payments or "ACH" credit transactions. Transcript Information
To place a transcript order you must contact the individual court reporter directly by telephone or by fax at the numbers listed below.
For a court reporter other than the ones listed below please contact ESR at (718) 613-2590 for Brooklyn, (631) 712-6015 for Central Islip.
If you do not know the name of the court reporter please use PACER to obtain that information from the corresponding docket entry.
If you do not have access to PACER call 1-800-676-6856 to register. Urgent requests for assistance in locating the name of a reporter can be directed to the ESR office. It is the attorney's responsibility, however, to follow through and contact the assigned reporter directly to place the order for transcript.
Forms required by the Court of Appeals for ordering transcripts on appeal must also be directed and addressed to the individual reporter assigned to that proceeding.
